About Lupron Microdose 40mcg
Lupron (leuprolide acetate) is a medication that stops the production of gonadotropins, resulting in reduction of the testosterone to castration level. The decrease in testosterone levels help control prostate cancer, however when treated with Lupron, this causes prostate cancer-cells to grow at slower rate or stop growing. It is a pre-mixed clear liquid which comes in multi-dose vial. There are two types of Lupron therapy, microdose and standard, and a specific dose is recommended depending on patients’ medication protocol. Lupron Microdose 40mcg is administered subcutaneously.

Brief description of Lupron Microdose 40mcg

Lupron Microdose 40mcg has helped several women with poor ovarian reserves to get pregnant. It is a low-dose preparation that has an ability to induce rather than suppress ovaries. Physicians recommend this medication for women who don’t respond to other medicines. Lupron acts on the pituitary gland in brain to alter the release of LH and FSH- the 2 hormones which are responsible for ovulation and egg development. During starting days of the treatment, it will cause increased release of these two hormones, with consequent rise in estrogen production. Repetitive administration of Lupron will however result into suppression of pituitary hormones, with consequent drop in the estrogen secretion. Full strength Lupron/leuprolide acetate is diluted so that ten units may contain 40mcg of medication rather than usual dose.

Lupron Microdose 40mcg should be stored below 77 degree at room temperature and in the carton.
