Prednison belongs to the corticosteroids class of drugs. It is used for preventing the release of inflammation causing substances from the body. Prednison 20mg is available in a pack of 60 tablets and is used for treating conditions like allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders. This medication is not suitable for patients allergic to Prednison or having fungal infection in any part of their body.
Before taking Prednison 20mg, you must tell your doctor about all your medical conditions and about other medication you are using. You must also inform your doctor about any unusual stress such as a serious illness, fever or infection, or if you have surgery or a medical emergency. Prednison is likely to weaken the immune system which may further lead to an infection or worsening of an infection you already have or have recently had.
Patients using this medication must avoid contact or being near people having any infection or are sick. In case you are exposed to chicken pox or measles, you must immediately ask your doctor for some preventive treatment as these conditions can be serious or even fatal in people who are using steroid medication. You must also make sure not to receive a “live” vaccine while you are taking Prednison as vaccines do not work well while you are taking a steroid. Do not stop using this medication without consulting your doctor as it might result in unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
